Physician Clinical Exchange > Recommendation for Acne Treatment

What is the best treatment for acne other than topical treatments? What is the best blue light machine?

05.31 | Unregistered CommenterPatricia

Patricia, do you prefer IPL treatments over other solutions out there? PRP seems promising.

06.1 | Unregistered CommenterJUNRYL

Remove blue light from your choices. Disappointing results. It has little or no effect.

06.4 | Unregistered Commentercdo

Have you tried aspirin masks?

06.5 | Unregistered Commenteredwin l.

Try the Clear Light machine from Lumenis or even Blue LED from Healite or Omnilux . Hope this helps!

We have successfully treated acne using the isolaz device for patients who have not responded to first or second line treatments such as topicals and oral antibiotics such as benzoil peroxide, clindamycine and tretinoin. The isolaz utilizes pneumatic energy and broadband light.

Photodynamic therapy, pulsed dye, LED and CoolTouch. Fraxel for acne scars. I have tried all these devices and I highly recommend these.

Try a combo chemical peel such as Jessner or modified Jessner. I'd recommend pairing with a microsecond Nd-YAG laser before the peel to heat up the sebacous glands. Continue the usual skin treatment regimen with benzoyl peroxide and Salicylic acid scrubs. The combo approach is a fool proof guarantee to stopping even the worst cases of acne.

Thank you everyone for your responses. Can you recommend an OTC treatment that works well?

10.19 | Unregistered CommenterPatricia

Patricia. Id the acne is the problem with no hyperpigmentation, you can try Epicuren's Clarify kit or Obagi's Clenziderm. If you have scarring, then more agressive office treatment is needed.
