Cynosure: Elite, Affirm, Cynergy & Smartlipo > Elite YAG for Toenail Fungus?

Anyone using Elite YAG for toenail fungus and if so what are the results and proper settings? I would think this would be an excellent treatment as it's not different than dedicated toenail lasers.

Great question! I am also looking to have this answered. How can we treat foot fungus with traditional Yag lasers?

So far no reply's. I had heard Candella has a toe nail fungus protocol for their YAG. Does anyone know what that is? It just does not make sense to buy a dedicated YAG for toe nails..

There are a few papers on YAG for onychomycosis, each using a different protocol. One used the Aerolase LightPod Neo, another used a Cutera YAG sold to podiatrists (same as Laser Genesis as I understand) and a third used a device whose name I can't remember. Rather different parameters, all showed reasonable but not incredible results. Look up YAG onychomycosis on a search engine and you can probably track these down. The point is to heat the infected tissue.

It seems any long pused Yag laser may be used to treat fungal nails.

Check out the pinpointe foot laser carried by cynosure... It's specifically made to treat toenail fungus

While it is true that any Yag laser may be used for toenail fungus, it is not true that they are all FDA approved to do so, nor are they all equally effective due to available parameters.

The Q-Clear by Light Age, Inc. is the only q-switched dual wavelength Nd:Yag (1064nm/532nm) FDA approved for onychomicosis nail whitening. This is important because heat is not the only way the fungus is treated- the q-switch adds the power of impact which breaks up the fungus as well. This laser is also FDA approved for warts, veins, hair removal, tattoo removal, and much more.
