IPL & Laser Treatments > Best laser for tatoo removal??

One that treats the most colors, least painful, and requires least number of treatments.
One that has great customer service in the event a repair is needed...

I have a dual wave-length Yag Q-switched laser capable of tattoo removal it is pretty cheap. Highly effective for dark tattoos. Hope that helps darlene.

We've been using 755-nm Alexandrite laser for tattoos. Our patients are extremely satisfied with the outcome. This works well for dark colors of tattoos. Discomfort subsides after treatment. However, swelling may occur which disappears within a week. All in all, a great treatment!

We have also a 755 nm Alexandrite laser in our office. It's safe and effective. It clears tattoos faster than Q switch lasers. Highly recommendable.

Do you mean you use a long pulsed Alex or is this a q switched Alex?

The Alexandrite works best. This may be because there is very little in skin that absorbs 755 nm light. The NdYag's 1064 nm is on the edge of a water absorption band. The NdYag's advantage is that you can frequency-double it to get a wavelength that is good for red tattoo ink. By the way, whatever they claim, the Alexandrite is almost certainly also q-switched in one way or another.

The use on a non q switched alexandrite for tattoo removal is dangerous and a departure from the standards of care regarding tattoo removal. The use of a long pulse laser has the strong potential for hypertrophic scar formation.

THe gold standard for tattoo removal is Quality switched laser systems. Normally more than one is required due to the shortcomings of the wavelengths ( yag is good for black , dark blue, and frequency doubled red but poor on sky blue, yellow and green) Alex is better for green and blues but falls short on the red ink and can be a bit aggressive on the black leading to pigment issues to a greater degree
Ruby is excellent for green blue and black but again poor on the reds.
