First I hope you have some training in laser use and the physics as well as an understanding of patient physiology and their skin typing etc ( fitzpatrick score)
If not hold off take a few classes then restart.
If you have done that the safest thing for you to do would be to spot test your patients on an area of skin such as behined an ear or under the arm. The guidelines in your manuel will help you and should give a wide range of parameters regarding your spot size, fluence and pulse duration all coupled to the patients fitzpatrick score.
Test a few pulses at one setting on the lower end of the recomended settings and one more in another area of skin toward the middle. Look at the area the real safest thing would be to have them return in 48 hours and see the area. Of course you must mark and keep records of which spot was which. This will give you an idea of what settings that patient requires. Currently you are just taking shots in the dark and someone can get hurt.
