Juvederm Injections
Juvéderm Injections ~ Another Hyaluronic acid filler gaining popularity is Juvéderm™ manufactured by the same company that makes Botox® cosmetic injectable.
Juvéderm™ is also FDA approved, non-animal dermal filler gel used to correct mid to deep dermis wrinkles. Juvéderm™ works best on wrinkles in the lower 1/3 of the face like nasolabial folds (smile or laugh lines) and oral commissures (marionette lines).
After the gel is injected it maintains the area’s shape by attracting and binding the body’s moisture to the area.
One of the differences in Juvéderm injections and other Hyaluronic acid fillers is that it comes in two formulas Juvéderm™ Ultra and Juvéderm™ Ultra Plus to treat different wrinkle depths of area’s needing to be filled. Also the base of the injectable is smooth gel vs. a granular gel used by some other fillers. Juvéderm™ has been tested and shows no hypertrophic scaring in patients of color.
The injection process is similar to that of other Hyaluronic acid fillers including a thorough consultation prior to treatment. The injection area will be determined and cleansed removing all makeup and
Juvéderm™ will be injected with an ultra fine needle. Treatment will take approximately 15 minutes and immediately after the injection the medical provider may massage the area to even the distribution of the filler to the area.
Patients should avoid excess sun, strenuous activity and alcohol for a 24 hour period to minimize the risk of swelling and erythema.
Results for Juvéderm™ Ultra and Juvéderm™ Ultra Plus are up to 6 months however additional injections will be needed after that to maintain lasting results.
