Medspa Legal & Legislation > Michigan Medical Spa Laws

I am a RN in Michigan. My background is all critical care (ICU, ER, Rapid Response, and Flight). I am currently working just a few shifts a month in the ER and am a stay at home mom to my 13 month old most of the time. I was approached by the owner of the salon I get my hair done at asking me if I would consider doing training to administer botox and fillers. Currently the salon just does hair and nails and is not a medical spa. She has a room that she is converting and is planning to start offering facials. She has a friend that is an ER physician that has agreed to be the "medical director". Both of them are "totally on board and excited" about the prospect of offering botox/fillers but I don't think they have really considered all the legalities and ins and outs of adding this service. I am intrigued with the option to be able to set my own hours, etc but want to make sure everything is legit if I head down this path. I have found several courses for getting actually certified to do the injections etc but am looking for advice from the legal/business stand point. Looks like a lot of grey areas. Anyone have any experience/advice for turning a regular spa into a medical spa in Michigan?

I'd like to communicate further, as I'm in the process of starting a new business in MI offering laser services. I'll be offering laser nail fungus treatment and laser tattoo removal. I'm contracting services with salons, spas and medical spas. Please let me know if you would like to communicate further, as we may have some mutually beneficial connections.
