Physician to Physician Discussions > Physician with MVA scar. Do I stand a chance?

(posted from other thread)
I am opening a medispa where I will be performing the procedures as a physician. However, I had a MVA recently which left a long scar across my face. I'd imagine some patients would think twice before allowing me to treat them because I couldn't fix my own facial scar. Any comments? Thanks.
Physician with SCAR on my face
Hello Physician with SCAR,
My own thoughts are that you may earn a certain amount of 'credibility'. The cosmetic market is primarily (90%) women and they're generally sensitive and slightly embarrassed to be seeking medical help for a cosmetic problem. I would guess that a scar as you describe might provide someting of an 'ice breaker' for nervous patients.
I can't imagine that you'd have much of a problem, especially if you are a man. I know tons of very successful plastic surgeons who are full of wrinkles, obese physicians who practice weight loss medicine, etc. I'm a 35 year old woman and many of my patients ask me what I've had done or how old I am. My 60ish year old male partner never gets asked those questions. My guess is that they'll judge your staff's appearances more than yours. Having said all that, you'll need to be trustworthy and skilled in your field or, scar or no scar, you will likely not succede since this field is fee for service and there is plenty of competition.

Have you tried PRP? Needs to be a hight quality device so you can get good results, Injected within the scar, maybe every 8 weeks times 3 or so. Good luck!
