Sciton: Joule & BBL > SkinTyte (Sciton)

What are your impressions from SkinTyte of Sciton?I have been using it for two months and i can see the first good results in skin tightening.
04.26 | Unregistered Commentercharry
I just got it and have used it 2 times so far. I have the Titan also and have one patient who has tried both. She thought the skintyte was much less comfortable.

I currently have the Titan, skin tyte as well as thermage. I originally got the Titan cutera and just added it to the platform. I have had trouble with my staff selling the Titan as they do not feel it works that great so we have been somewhat inconsistant with it. We have seen some fairly good results but nothing great.

I just got the BBLs and the ST was part of the package deal. We hope to see results from it. I also just bought the Thermage unit and hope it works. I will be able to compare these. I wish I could get someone to fund a splitface study as I have the technology. It would be fun to have the head to head comparisons.

OOPs sorry. It was suppose to say that the Skintyte was much less uncomfortable.
05.6 | Unregistered CommenterLH
LH,
We also just bought the Sciton BBL and ST package. I'd love to keep in touch and compare notes in the future.

Thanks!

I was trying to talk the Thermage rep into some tips so that I can do split face comparisons. I will keep talking to her as it would be fun to compare Titan, Thermage and the Sciton ST.

It would be nice to see if the infrared compares to the monopolar RF.
05.7 | Unregistered CommenterLH
I have tried the Sciton Skin Tyte, Titan, and Thermage in the past 2 years and have decided to go with the Sciton ST and the Titan exclusively. The Thermage was just too painful of a procedure to endure. RF device and the risk of lipo-atrophy is a risk I do not want to take.
The Sciton BBL-ST is more comfortable than the Titan and has similar results. The bottom line is IR is IR. The results are physician dependent as well. I also like the fact that the Sciton unit does not have consumable hand piece like the Cutera Titan. The disposable tips from Thermage is truely a joke. The market for skin tightening procedures are very competitive now a days. There are even medspas out ther doing 200 pulses of Titan for $500 in Southern California.

I was wondering whether some one can help me out on this. I'm in process of upgrading my systems. My practice is in Ontario, Canada and I got a quote for a Sciton Profile MP Console which includes BBL, Skin Tyte and Dual ND YAG for $160,000 Canadian. As you know Canadian dollars has recently surpassed US dollars (1 Canaidan = 1.08 U.S) however, the quote price has not been changed. Was wondering what is the price of similar package in U.S. dollars. your help is greatly appreciated

Is anyone going off protocol for skintyte or staying with the recommended settings at 40 Jules with 5 passes?

03.4 | Unregistered CommenterspaRN

spaRN,

Increase it as tolerated. We try to get to the 50 range at least. I have heard some saying they are getting to about 60.

03.4 | Unregistered CommenterLH

SpaRN

I have used it(SkinTyte) up to 55J/cm and 7 sec,5 passes with minimal discomfort for the patient.

03.5 | Unregistered CommenterCharry

We also are modifying the Skin Tyte protocol to use with acne pts and getting great results combined with the "Blue Light" filter.

03.5 | Unregistered CommenterspaRN

SpaRN

You are using the ST filter combined with the 420nm filter in acne pts,for what reason and with which parameters for each filter?Do you mean in inflammatory acne lesions or for acne scars?

03.5 | Unregistered CommenterCharry

We are using the 420 and then following up with skin tyte at aprox 35 jules/2passes, which will in theory deliever heat deeper and decrease the oil secretion, and have a longer effect on diminishment of acne.

03.8 | Unregistered CommenterspaRN

If anyone is interested in the Sciton Profile MP Console, please contact me at ramonaamiri@hotmail.com. I am willing to sell for $100,000.00 CAD

04.4 | Unregistered CommenterRamona

It's brand new and there is room for negotiations.

04.4 | Unregistered CommenterRamona

I found the lipoatrophy comment useful. I am going through Goldman's book and did not yet see that. I use BBLST for acne and wrinkles. I saw some 1440? results on acne which were nice and thought IR would do the same. In the midst of a study now.

09.29 | Unregistered Commenterbruce

LH- how are you doing on that split-face study of Titan vs. skintyte? Any findings / conclusions?

09.30 | Unregistered CommenterTF

TF,

No where. the companies do not really want to help. They can only lose. The Skintyte is easy as it does not cost me anything to use but I have to pay to use the Thermage as well as the Titan.

09.30 | Unregistered CommenterLH

new way of using skintyte is starting to be used. no real data yet but some docs are sweeping the device across the intended area. use higher setting such as 55j, 5-7 sec no post cool. buy an infrared thermometer and try to get temp to 40-42 degrees c for 2 minutes. these are basically accent protocols being used with the st device. and good pics please sen to me. (please note that i am a consultant/lecturer for sciton).

Dr.Pozner
These accent protocols for SkinTyte (higher settings such as 55j , 5-7sec ,NO post cool) were done on which type patients?type 1-3?What about the downtime and the feeling of pain with these settings?I am a Dermatologist in Greece and i have been using higher settings (up to 55j ,6-7sec but with cool at 13-14 degr. AND post cool 2sec) and i have seen very good results.Thank you.

12.8 | Unregistered Commentercharry

charry
we have spoken before. try not stacking but moving handpiece in a sweeping motion as you are delivering the energy. repeat until skin is a little red (really temp 40-42 degrees c). i will try to make a short video for u when i get a chance. u can always email me at drpozner@smacboca.com

I am a sciton user from Malaysia. I have the MLP, Profrac, BBL, ClearScan and ST modules. Can anyone help me with acne protocols with BBL or ST? Thank you.

08.16 | Unregistered Commenterlts

Hi

I am a Dermatologist from Greece and i have the BBL +ST +1064 by Sciton. For acne you could use a combination of ST and 420 filter.First the ST (2 passes) at 45-50 J/cm ,5-6 sec and 13 C cooling and then the 420 filter (2 passes) at 5-6 J/cm , 150 msec and at 15 C the cooling system. You have to do it 4-6 sessions at 1 week intervals.Follow up after 2-3 months.

Hi Charry:

The protocol of the BBL420 & SkinTyte for acne you posted, I would like to know for which type of patients? is that good for type III or IV? Most of our patients are asian and we tried to treat them with BBL420 6-7 J/cm, 20ms, and 14 C cooling, but we haven't seen very good result! Also can you give me some opinions how you treat Melasma? Thank you!

Michelle

08.18 | Unregistered CommenterMichelle

Michelle

The settings for Acne with the BBL 420nm +ST are good for a type III.On type IV you could use with the 420nm a little longer pulse width (e.g. 200msec).You have to use first the ST in order to heat deeply,to boil the glands and open the cysts. Then the 420nm attacks to P.Acne.
For Melasma on type IV start with the 515nm filter at 9-10 J/cm ,20msec, 15 C cooling and increase at 1 J/cm at the next sessions with 3 weeks intervals. If you see a long post-erythema stop the BBL and continue with a cream with HQ.

08.18 | Unregistered Commentercharry

Dear Charry:

After patient had the treatment of SkinTyte & BBL420 for Acne, is that suppose we see a erythema and edema?

thanks,
Michelle

08.18 | Unregistered CommenterMichelle

Michelle

Yes you can see a erythema that last a few hours.

Sorry for the late reply. Thanks for the protocol guidance. Will get back to you on how it goes.

Has anyone experienced reduction in fatty tissue volume (thinning of the face) with ST as seen with some Thermage patients? What do you think about doing the individual pulses with "thicker neck" patients, and doing more of the sweeping motion in "thinner skined" patients?

08.25 | Unregistered CommenterKT

I'm looking at buying my first IPL/BBL and skin tightening system. I am comparing Cutera and Sciton and want to make sure I buy the system that will give the best results. Has anyone got firsthand experience with both Titan and Skin Tyte that can give me their opinion on which gives the better result. Sciton seems a better value without the pulse counter, but not if it doesn't work as well. Does Titan work better than Skin Tyte or are they comparable?

09.29 | Unregistered CommenterR Segar

Titan is more painful than SkinTyte and each session costs more than that. The result are equal for both systems.

09.30 | Unregistered Commentercharry

Dr Charry,

Can you please comment on why such a short interval with the acne-ST protocol you discusse.
Are others using such a short period (1 week) between procedures. Is this allowing enough time to reap the benefits from the procedures before heating it again?

Miles Mahan

The short interval with the acne-ST protocol is nessecary for destroying the sebaceous glands and the cysts or the pustules...etc.All others are using this interval time...

10.1 | Unregistered Commentercharry

Thanks. have a patient I will try this protocol. I will let you you know.

Thanks. have a patient I will try this protocol. I will let you you know.

What areas have you guys seen the best results with the skin tyte and why do you think?

And, also do you have any recommendations for the most effective treatment to make the patient leave happy even after their first treatment.

I have also noticed no visible improvement in their nasol folds after even 6 sessions.

Also, wondering what your thoughts are on the Elos Re-firme. A med spa down the street is making a lot of money on this system. Advertising from Oprah and Dr. Phil has really helped with the marketing aspect of it. Everyone trusts what Oprah has to say.

I have the Sciton Skin Tyte. How do I compete with this and can I compete with this? Do any of you have any great marketing strategies to sell this service.

Wish we had someone like that marketing for us. Any thoughts? Any suggestions?

I have the refirme. It is very reliable. My pts do not feel any pain at all. It will do amazing job on lifting the eyebrows
" temporary".

Yes, syneron spends some money on advertising. The system actually works on some but not all. Again pts selection is
the key here. I see moderate improvement on those who have the sagging " longer" face. I do however, use alma accent on the rounder face to achieve improvement.

Sandy-Rn

I have seen very good results with my SkinTyte. The best results that i have seen are on the face and neck and on the abdomen.Which settings are you using?

12.22 | Unregistered Commentercharry

Have been given new settings with Skin Tyte. Sliding technique ... 2" sliding 75-85j 6.5-7.ms 16-17c. Faster, more comfortable for patient and better results.

12.28 | Unregistered Commenterjanice

May I know what you mean by sliding technique and for what skin type?

75-85j 6.5-7.ms 16-17c
Wow the parameter is set rather high. I've never treated anyone using energy higher than 55 Joules, 6 seconds with 1second post cooling. I am affraid the burn the patient with higher setting. Maybe I should experiment on my self to see if I can tolerate 75-85 J at 6.5 - 7 seconds with no post cooling time. Are these setting for the abdomen? Can the same setting be used on the face? So far I only get a few complaints from patients who desires more lifting after the skin tyte procedure. I often use Restylane lifting technique to produce the instant lifting result.

I have never used higher than 55 J/cm2 , 7sec ,14 C ,2 post cooling.The results so far,are great with the SkinTyte.

01.20 | Unregistered Commentercharry

I am starting to use 60J 5seconds, 0 post cooling and setting cooling to 20 degrees.

01.20 | Unregistered CommenterLH

Sorry, I should have stated that I constantly have the handpiece in motion using a sliding technique. I also use an infrared thermomater to costantly measure the external temperature of the skin. The goal at this time should be an external temperature of 40 degrees (or at least 5 degrees celsius from baseline temp) and then maintain the temperature at 40 degrees for approximately 2 minutes.

01.20 | Unregistered CommenterLH

What type of infrared thermometer do you use?

01.22 | Unregistered CommenterSG

Has anyone treated arm laxity, wrinkling? Would you perform a MLP or Profractional prior on the same day? Would you add coag? What settings would be used for skin tyte AND profx XC?

03.21 | Unregistered CommenterDan

Charry,

Can the skintyte be used safely on tanned skin since it's Infrared (we are in south Texas where it's hard to get people to avoid sun in the warmer months)? Or is there still a risk for pigmentation and burns....I would think not since it can be used in the darkest skin types as well.

04.29 | Unregistered Commenterboots

boots

The SkinTyte can be used safely in darker skin types although the settings must be different e.g. lower fluence and/or lower temperature on cooling in comparison to lighter skin types.
