Jeff Barson Founder
Jeff Barson has opened and run numerous clinics, spoken at medical spa and aesthetic medical conventions, and consulted hundreds of physicians and businesses about how to compete and succeed in retail cosmetic medicine.
In 2001, as a founding partner in Surface Medical, Jeff recognized the need for unbiased, spin-free information that wasn't undermined by the need to attract advertising dollars. He began publishing Medical Spa MD to connect physicians in cosmetic medical practices and help them run their businesses more effectively while dealing with the overwhelming needs of real business marketing, staffing, and operations. Ten years later, Medical Spa MD is now the premier destination and largest community of physicians practicing non-surgical and cosmetic medicine with more than 5,000 physician members and 1.5 million page views each year and a trusted voice for physicians everywhere.
Publishing Medical Spa MD came with some headaches; cease and desist letters, threats, more threats, and seemingly endless spam. In 2012 Jeff handed over control of the site in order to focus on other pursuits but is thankful that there are many physicians who love the fact that there is one place on the web where they can get honest opinions.
