Who's searching for Medical Spa MD?

Tonight I took a look at what readers are searching for that come to this blog. I've posted a screen shot of the searches from the last few days. The searches change but the screenshot shows how people are typically searching for information.

It looks like the long strings of comments on the Dermacare posts have given this site a rather large footpring for people searching for Dermacare.

Thermage is usually in the top two or three searches so it's no suprise to see 'Thermage reviews' and 'Titan vs. Thermage' and 'does Thermage work' among the top searches.

 It's much more of a suprise to see 'dermadoc' as generating a number of searches.

Of course the list is much longer. I've just posted what fit on my screen. 

Medical Spa MD: 8000 monthly visitors

Wow. Medical Spa MD had more than 8,000 unique visitors and 60,000 page views last month. 

I'd like to express my thanks to everyone who submits, comments, or lurks.

While I've been threatened with lawsuits when someone doesn't like what they find here, it's the growing community that makes the upkeep of this site worth it to me. Certainly this is the only place on the web I'm aware of that isn't part of the paid party line.

For those who contribute; Midwest, Dermadoc, Ron Berglund, Dermgal, ChicagoMD, Karen PA-C, MD, Docsocks, Aesthetic RN, Aesthetic Physician, and everyone else who's contributed in any way to this site. Thanks. I know enough to know that I'm not the only voice in the cosmos/

We're actually going to be improving a number of things around here. Medspa Physician Job Listings will be posted in the next few days and there are a number of physicians and medspa owners who've contacted me about possibly writing for this site. Classified listings for or by medspa physicians will be up for 180 days and are completely free.

The Aesthetician to Esthetician Discussion Area has also been opened for aestheticians to ask questions of others.

So thanks, and if you're a lurker, go ahead and comment. If you have an opinion we'll all learn something.

I am happy to allow contributors to either use their own name, or use a pseudonym (Aesthetic MD). If you want to use a pseudonym I need to know who you are, but I will of course keep that information in confidence. I always make clear when it's my writing or that of a contributor both by giving a by-line in the title and by using indentation and different fonts. Links and backlinks may be included. You don't need to worry about formatting or images.

There are only a few groundrules for contributors. The topic has to be on some aspect of cosmetic medicine or business that should be of interest to medspaMD readers, but as most contributors are readers that's usually assumed.

Finally, although I print much of what I'm sent, medicalspaMD of course retains editorial control. Just use common sense and of course if you expressly do NOT want something published please tell me. You do give medicalspaMD all rights for info you submit -- but I'll reserve the right to say more about that if in some happy future day this site ever starts adding to my bank account rather than subtracting from it!

Anonymous posts lack credibility: Please enter your medical spas web site.

In most settings and especially on the web, anonymity is safety. But, anonymous posts lack any real credibility because there's no accountability.

There are comments on this site from MD, AestheticRN and others that are anonymous.

MD recently touted Cutera as being 'the best'. Is MD a Cutera rep planting info? Does he train for Cutera? We'll never know. (Unless he comments again here.)

Please comment on anything you wish. We love comments. We encourage comments. Just link to your site so that we can weight the credibility of your thoughts.

Medical Spa Investment Scams: What's the link at the top of the page?

I've received an email asking about those links so I thought I'd explain the sponsored links on the main blog page.  (The four green links near the top of the page are the main ones.) The businesses there are paying to be there in order to gain visibility and drive traffic to their sites. This blog takes in a little money from Yahoo when someone visits those sites from this one. It's not much.

We do this for two reasons. First, I want to pay my hosting bills. Second and more importantly, readers of this site are looking for information and the links offer examples of med spa sites or other information useful to our readers. The Medspa Investment Scams link is one of those.

Is the Medical Spa Investment Scams e-book worth paying for? To be honest I don't know. However I did just buy it. As soon as I read it I'll post a review and see if it's worth the $60 or so.

Medical Spas Online hits 5000... So where's the beef?

It's something of a surprise to see that Medical Spas Online now has more than 5000 unique monthly visitors. I feel somewhat remiss in that I haven't been posting as regularly as I might. While I'm not big on excuses, here's what's been going on and a few things in the pipe.

• Surface inked a deal with a VC firm that's resulted in the creation of a new company, Surface SE (South East). This new company is headquartered in Nashville where the first SurfaceSE Beta site is about to go live. SurfaceSE is charged with a much larger roll out that should include a number of locations in the South East of the country. (There will be more on this as it progresses.)
• Blogging does actually take time and it's common for the occasional break to recharge the batteries.
• I've been devoting some time to two other start-ups that have resulted both from this blog and speaking to physicians:
• A business start-up book for physicians and businesses on how to conceive, open and run a cosmetic practice. The book will be available for download from this site when it's completed.
  
• And a consultation and training program for physicians in the aesthetic market. (You can read more about what I think of most of the current crop of consultants and franchises here.) I receive between 5 and 10 inquires for advice, training or consulting each week and have decided to put my money where my mouth is and build a program that works. I envision this new training program to be much more along the lines of 'mentoring' and consist of 'how to' training in the business, operations and marketing aspects of the business as well as medical training. How To Subscribe To Medical Spa MD - RSS Feeds

RSS Feeds: For those who are technology challenged, Medical Spas Online offer RSS 'Feeds' that allow you to recieve updated content from MSO and any other sites you choose. (Those that provide feeds.) To subscribe, choose a RSS aggregator (like one of of those below) and install it. Then just click on the RSS feed you would like to subscribe to and your aggregator will be updated with the most current content.

Tags: Tagging allows you to categorize a site with one or more 'tags' that basically filter content. IE. You may want to tag this site as 'medicalspas' and 'resources' and 'articles' or whatever other kinds of tags you personally want to use. These tags allow you to list the same site in multiple 'categories'. It's really simple once you start using them and you'll find you cant live without them since they work from any computer (their hosted online) and work much better than bookmarks.
